What is F.I.R.E.?

F.I.R.E. stands for Financial Independence and Retire Early.  Sounds nice right?  What does this mean?  The F.I.R.E movement is when someone doesn't want the standard work till 65 and retire.  To do this the person will raise the amount they are saving to reach their personal FI number.  When they reach this number they can retire.  The majority of the plans follow the 4% rule where they live off of 4% of their investments.  This percentage was made famous by the Trinity study.

Should I care About F.I.R.E?

Even if you do not want to retire early understanding the F.I.R.E. movement will still be something that can benefit your future calculations.  The movement focuses on knowing how much you need to live off of and how much you need to save to get there.  This can help everyone regardless of when you want to retire.
